This is a reproduction print of an original wet plate collodion tintype featuring a white Monster Energy can. Suddenly, the rocky mountain beer of choice looks like it belongs in a Civil War field kit.
The original image was created by hand using the wet plate collodion tintype process, giving it the imperfections, uneven tones, chemical marks, scratches, and strange little artifacts that make each tintype feel more like an object than a photograph. Those characteristics are preserved in the print rather than cleaned away.
It’s part still life, part photographic history experiment, and part tribute to the beverage responsible for an unreasonable percentage of modern productivity.
