This is a reproduction print of an original wet plate collodion tintype featuring a beer first brewed around this photography process started. Suddenly, the beer Selected as America's best in 1893 is given it's proper photoshoot.
The original image was created by hand using the wet plate collodion tintype process, giving it the imperfections, uneven tones, chemical marks, scratches, and strange little artifacts that make each tintype feel more like an object than a photograph. Those characteristics are preserved in the print rather than cleaned away.
It’s part still life, part photographic history experiment, and part tribute to the beverage responsible for an unreasonable percentage of modern productivity.
